WELCOME BACK TO TERM 3. Thanks to all the helpers at the end of Term 2 who scrubbed, disinfected and sorted our learning environment. We return to a sparkling clean kindergarten, absent of germs, grime and muddy footprints. Even though the kindergarten is cleaned each day by staff and twice weekly by a professional cleaner, and all toys and equipment are disinfected every Friday between sessions, the extra effort at the end of term is appreciated. THANK YOU to Sharyn (Jarrah), Bernie (Kailey), Libby (James), Bec (Lily), Sara (Jarra), Dezi (Charlie G), Saraid (Maeve), Cobi (Nash), Lyndell (Charlie K), Katie (Maddison), Simone (Isabelle), Alana (Magestah), Naomi (Cooper), Sarra (Heath) and everyone else who scrubbed chairs, blocks, filed paintings and disinfected the lego etc.
ALSO A BIG THANK YOU TO EMMA (Governing Council Chairperson) and her team of helpers who removed the old bark chips from under the swings in preparation for the new ‘soft fall’ to be replaced by James, our weekly gardener. Emma also organised for the gutters to be cleaned and I believe a new letterbox has been installed thanks to Lachie and his family.
JUST A REMINDER – when packing your child’s lunch and snack boxes remember to make healthy choices. A small piece of fruit, small container of cut up vegetables, a sandwich, salad or similar and a small treat is all that is needed. You know we send home all food scraps so that you can monitor your child’s eating too and can adjust the contents accordingly. SOME CHILDREN HAVE TOO MANY CHOICES AND OTHERS ARE BRINGING ONLY ‘PACKET FOODS’ AND ARE NOT TRYING FRUIT OR VEGETABLES. DON’T FORGET A FILLED WATER BOTTLE.
I AM AWARE THAT THE JUNIOR PRIMARY SCHOOL HAS SENT OUT ACCEPTANCE LETTERS FOR 2016. Have you received a letter if you are planning to send your child to the JP school? Also have all other families received confirmation of your school choice as staff from each school will be visiting and planning transition visits during Term 4. I know it seems a long way off – TIME FLIES. Some options may be closed to you if you haven’t made your school choice yet.
SOME OF WHAT LEARNING HAS BEEN HAPPENING –
- Football – we have been taking turns, negotiating, extending our ball skills, counting, role playing and sharing our knowledge of football
- Finebrush Painting – we have been experimenting with colour, shape and space; sharing and extending our fine motor skills
- Small Group games – we have been exploring rhyming words (Slug in a Jug), concentrating, remembering and turn taking
- Literacy Kits – listening (The Doorbell Rang), retelling, counting, sharing and problem solving
If you want to know more about what your child has been learning don’t forget to look at the Curriculum Board in the kitchen and all the display boards around the kindergarten. ALSO ALL STAFF ARE WILLIG TO HAVE A CHAT WITH YOU.
