Newsletter 2 Term 1 Week 8 22/03/2017
WE’VE HAD A VERY BUSY START TO THE YEAR. Most children have allowed their parent to leave but some still need an ‘adult hand’. These children require a little bit longer to feel safe, secure and confident in the kindergarten environment. REMEMBER THE FEW TIPS FROM THE LAST NEWSLETTER ESPECIALLY THAT YOUR CHILD WILL LOOK TO YOU FOR REASSURANCE – SO STAY CALM. If your child does not settle we will phone you but remember you can phone us anytime. We will not phone if your child has entered purposeful play.
WITH OUR VERY TIGHT TIME TABLE WE NEED YOUR HELP,
8.30am – 8.45am – Staff set up the learning environment and tend to any administrative tasks
8.45am – Children arrive – Parents and carers are welcome to stay and play, read stories, do puzzles etc
3.00pm – Children are farewelled
3.00pm – 3.45pm – Staff clean, reset the learning environment, tend to any administrative tasks etc
12.30pm – Children arrive on Fridays for afternoon kindergarten
It’s wonderful to have so many eager children arriving early for kindy but staff do need time to set up the learning environment.
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING – Over the last few weeks your children have been learning to be a part of the Bishop Kindergarten community. They have been learning about respecting themselves, the other children and adults and the environment; the garden, the toys and equipment. (Has anyone seen a small figurine called Skye from Paw Patrol, she has gone on an extended holiday!) The children have tried really hard to listen and take turns talking. They have been Palaeontologists, fishermen, campers, equestrians, gardeners and emergency service officers. They have participated in an evacuation procedure and a display of their work, play and learning is on the Woolworths Early Childhood display board.
THANK YOU TO THE OUTGOING 2016 GOVERNING COUNCIL AND WELCOME TO THE NEW 2017 COUNCIL MEMBERS who were elected at last week’s Annual General Meeting. Remember you can still join the Council or attend any meeting especially when there is an interesting guest speaker.
SOME FAMILIES HAVE ALREADY JOINED US FOR A CHAT AND TO VIEW THEIR CHILD’S PORTFOLIO (RECORD OF LEARNING). I’m sorry it takes a whole term to meet with everyone and an invitation will be put into your child’s note pocket soon. As soon as you receive one please see a staff member to make a time to chat. Don’t forget you can approach a staff member for an informal chat anytime.
FEES ARE NOW DUE – THANK YOU TO THOSE FAMILIES WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID.
HOLIDAYS ARE NOT FAR AWAY – LAST DAY OF TERM 1 IS THURSDAY 13TH APRIL. Time sure flies when you are having fun. At the end of term we have a number of jobs that parents/carers can help us with. There will be list placed on the front door on Monday 03/04/17 (Week 10) for you to choose a job which can be done any time before the end of term.
WE NEED TO VIEW YOUR CHILD’S IMMUNISATION RECORDS BEFORE THE END OF TERM 1 (13/04/17).
