Newsletter 7   Term 3   Week 9   22/09/2016

Dear Parents/Carers

TERM 3 IS COMING TO A STORMY END……spring arrived and then seemed to be blown away by the cold southerlies.  Even though the weather hasn’t been the best and there has been a number of children away with a variety of ills, we’ve had a great term filled with play and learning.

YOUR CHILDREN have been problem solvers while completing large 24, 30 and 60 piece puzzles.  They have practiced their engineering skills while constructing marble runs and they have also developed their mathematical knowledge of sorting and classifying, comparing, number, counting and grouping all while playing.  They have continued to extend their pretend play and the kindergarten Doctors Clinic has been very busy bandaging and caring for the sick.

PHOTO DAYS brought lots of smiles and Anthea is quite happy with the results despite the rainy conditions she had to work in.  Thank you to the families that were punctual – to organise 30 pre-schoolers and their teachers to smile at the same time is nearly impossible, so this is always the first photo of the day.

A big thank you to Corey (Eddy) Edmonds and Sarah Moloney for shovelling 4 tonnes of sand into the sandpit with a little bit of help from the children in the green team.  The children have been enjoying playing with the new sand. (Please return any found in pockets, boots and shoes – ha ha!)

BEFORE TERM 3 ENDS REMEMBER –

  • Literacy kits are due back on Wednesday 28 September 2016.
  • Fees are now very overdue – please check with Margaret if you are unsure of amount/payment already made
  • Help is needed for the end of term cleaning.  With your help we can rid the kindergarten of the grime and make it sparkle for the beginning of term 4.  We are again looking for a person with a high pressure cleaner to make short work of cleaning the chairs.
  • Find your hats.  Wearing a hat is compulsory for everyone in term 4 (hopefully the sun will shine!) and please apply sunscreen before arriving at Kindy.  We will reapply sunscreen after lunch to those children whose parents have filled in the permission form.

I’m sorry for piling Picture Plates, Calendars, Toy Catalogues, Parent Survey and Photos on families this term but no matter how hard we try to move them into other terms it just doesn’t work because of the time lines put on us by the manufacturers and the Department for Education and Child Development.

Please look in your kitchen drawers for teaspoons engraved with Bishop Kindergarten.  We have lost quite a few since the start of the year.

Thanks for your help.

Term 4 starts on Monday 17 October 2016.

Please enjoy a restful, cold free break.
Margaret, Ly, Kirsty, Lisa, Sharon and Cherine
